On Christmas Eve, on Via San Gregorio Armeno, stop in front of a window filled with nativity figures: one draws the eye with its face, another with the gesture of its hands. Which one to take home is a decision best made together, unhurried.
For a Christmas in Naples as a couple, Chiaia is a good base if you want to alternate between the historic centre and the sea. From Follaky Secret Garden, Via San Gregorio Armeno is about a 32-minute walk along Via Toledo, and the seafront about 7. It is a boutique B&B within the residential grounds of Palazzo Giovagnoni: two suites, each with its own independent, private entrance, and Follaky Breakfast included.
Four Nights, from 23 to 27 December
In 2026, Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday and Boxing Day (26 December) on a Saturday: four nights, from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27, leave you three full days. Check-in is in person, between 15:00 and 20:00; departure is by 10:00, and on Sundays check-out is done from Vico Monteroduni 16. Each day needs just one anchor point: the workshops, the sea, the theatre.

San Gregorio Armeno, the Street of the Christmas Cribs
Thursday 24 December is the day for the historic centre. Italy's national tourism portal calls San Gregorio Armeno "the street of the Christmas cribs": the workshops are open all year round and sell Nativity figurines alongside statuettes of well-known personalities. In Roman times, the Temple of Ceres stood on this street, and worshippers brought terracotta votive figurines to it; the tradition of handcrafted nativity figures took shape around the eighteenth century.
At number 24, the Chiesa di San Gregorio Armeno has a coffered ceiling by Teodoro d'Errico, and from inside you can reach the convent's monumental cloister, with its Baroque marble fountain. Look round several workshops before choosing and, if you have a particular one in mind, or plan to visit the church, check its opening hours for Christmas Eve.
During the festive season the street can get very crowded: for Christmas 2025, Naples City Council put a one-way pedestrian system in place on the busiest days, so build some slack into your plans. The metro saves little time: Line 1 from Toledo to Dante, then an 11-minute walk, about 25–30 minutes altogether. Christmas on the Seafront, Boxing Day Between Villa Pignatelli and Eduardo
Friday 25 is the day for the sea: from Follaky, the seafront is about a 7-minute walk, Castel dell'Ovo about 17. For lunch or dinner on 24, 25 and 26 December, confirm the menu, times and opening directly with the restaurant; our restaurants page can help you choose. On Saturday 26, start at Villa Pignatelli, at Riviera di Chiaia 200: a neoclassical villa designed by Pietro Valente in 1826 for Ferdinando Acton, later passed to the Rothschild family. In 1955, Princess Rosina Pignatelli donated it to the State, which turned it into a house-museum with a carriage museum. It opens 9:30–17:00, with last entry at 16:00, and is closed on Tuesdays, 25 December and 1 January: 26 December is not among the closing days listed.
In the evening, at the Teatro San Ferdinando, in Piazza Eduardo De Filippo 20, "Il sindaco del Rione Sanità" by Eduardo De Filippo is on stage, directed by and starring Geppy Gleijeses, with Pino Micol. On Saturday 26 December the performance is at 20:30, and the run continues until 3 January 2027; tickets can be bought online or at the theatre's box office. The official page does not state the running time: bear this in mind when timing dinner, and for the taxi back, give the address as Vico Monteroduni 16.
Which Suite for a Christmas in Naples?
The Suite Chiaia Deluxe Garden View is the more intimate of the two: olive green, wood and maiolica tiles, with a window looking onto two adjoining private gardens. The Suite Toledo Deluxe Private Patio is larger and brighter, in white and turquoise maiolica, with a private patio. Both suites accommodate two guests, with a queen bed (160×200).
