Friday, 4 December, around four in the afternoon. Bags down in the suite in Chiaia, and the evening is already settled: at 20:00, Teatro di San Carlo — about an 8-minute walk away — stages Luisa Miller. From there until you leave on Tuesday the 8th, three full days remain.
In 2026, the Immaculate Conception on 8 December falls on a Tuesday. It's a public holiday under Article 2 of Law No. 260 of 27 May 1949, and Monday the 7th alone is enough to join it to the weekend: from the 5th to the 8th of December is three nights, from the 4th to the 8th is four. The date has a link to the theatre too: the world premiere of Luisa Miller took place at the San Carlo itself, on 8 December 1849.
Three or four nights for the long weekend: how to split the days?
With three nights, from the 5th to the 8th, you arrive on the Saturday and have two full days, Sunday the 6th and Monday the 7th. With four nights, arriving on Friday the 4th, the full days become three: one for the historic centre and San Gregorio Armeno, one for Chiaia, Via Toledo and the seafront, and one to decide once you're there. Luisa Miller at Teatro di San Carlo, 2 to 10 December
Luisa Miller by Giuseppe Verdi opens, in a new production, the San Carlo's 2026/27 Opera Season, marking 290 years since the theatre's founding on 4 November 1737. It's directed by Davide Livermore and conducted by Daniel Oren; sung in Italian, with surtitles in Italian and English, and the opera runs for about 2 hours and 45 minutes including the interval.
There are seven performances, and three fall within the long weekend: Friday 4 December at 20:00, Saturday the 5th at 20:00, and Sunday the 6th at 17:00. The others are on the 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th of December. The theatre advises against buying outside authorised channels.

San Gregorio Armeno over the Immaculate Conception weekend
Via San Gregorio Armeno is the street of the nativity-scene makers. Under the City Council resolution of 29 June 2026, only the production and sale of nativity-scene art and figurines is permitted there, as the City of Naples reiterated on 14 September 2026.
From Follaky, it's about a 32-minute walk along Via Toledo. By metro the time is much the same: Line 1 from Toledo to Dante, then an 11-minute walk, comes to roughly 25–30 minutes in all.
To manage crowds, during the 2025 long weekend the Council put a one-way pedestrian flow in place on the street from Friday the 5th to Monday 8 December, from 9:00 to 20:00, running from Piazza San Gaetano towards Via San Biagio dei Librai and Vico Figurari. Chiaia as your base for the long weekend: which suite to choose?
From Follaky, Piazza dei Martiri is about a 3-minute walk, the seafront 7, Galleria Umberto I 8, and Piazza del Plebiscito 9. The historic centre deserves a day of its own; in the evening, you return to the suite to set down your shopping and get ready for dinner.
Follaky Secret Garden is a boutique B&B in Palazzo Giovagnoni, set within a private residential park. There are two suites, each for two guests with a queen-size bed, and each with its own independent, private entrance; Follaky Breakfast is included, with quality products. The Suite Chiaia Deluxe Garden View is the more intimate of the two, in olive green, wood and majolica, with a window looking onto two neighbouring private gardens. The Suite Toledo Deluxe Private Patio is larger and brighter, in tones of white and turquoise majolica, with a private patio.
