Friday 6 November, around half past eight in the evening. You leave Follaky via Vico Monteroduni 16 and, after about eight minutes on foot, you are in Piazzetta Duca d'Aosta, in front of Teatro Augusteo. At 21:00 the curtain rises on a mountain village, a parish priest and a telephone call from heaven.
At Teatro Augusteo, «Aggiungi un posto a tavola» runs from 6 to 15 November 2026, with Giovanni Scifoni and Lorella Cuccarini; «C'era una volta… Scugnizzi» returns from 18 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. At Teatro Politeama, Massimo Ranieri opens the season from 21 to 23 November. From Follaky the Politeama is about 4 minutes away on foot and the Augusteo about 8, with no taxi needed. The full programme is on the Augusteo's official listings and on the Politeama's website.

Giovanni Scifoni plays Don Silvestro, the parish priest whom God himself asks to build a new ark; Lorella Cuccarini, as special guest, plays Consolazione; «the Voice from Above» belongs to Enzo Garinei. Marco Simeoli plays Mayor Crispino and restages the original direction by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini.

La valigia sul letto and C'era una volta… Scugnizzi at the Augusteo
From 20 to 29 November, on the same stage, Eduardo Tartaglia presents «La valigia sul letto» («The suitcase on the bed»), which he wrote, directs and performs with Veronica Mazza, the comedy of Achille and Brigida, forced to change city and identity. Performances are at 21:00, with Sunday 22 and 29 and Wednesday 25 at 18:00; none is on sale for Monday 23. Stalls €35, gallery €25 (online box office).
In December, by popular demand, «C'era una volta… Scugnizzi» («Once upon a time… street kids») returns, with lyrics, music and direction by Claudio Mattone and dialogue written with Enrico Vaime. Saverio and Raffaele leave Nisida prison together and meet again twenty years later: one is a street priest who teaches music to the neighbourhood boys, the other, «'o russo», a local boss who wants them for his dealings. The story, the theatre writes, is set in Naples but belongs to the young people of every city in the world.
Performances run from 18 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, mostly at 21:00 and on Sundays at 18:00, including Christmas evening, Friday 25 December, and the evening of 1 January, at 21:00; 24 and 31 December do not appear among the performances on sale. Stalls €57.50, gallery €46; the dates one by one are on the online box office.

Two theatres, two short walks from Chiaia
The Augusteo, opened in November 1929, is the first reinforced-concrete work of Pier Luigi Nervi, designed by Arnaldo Foschini: a round hall thirty metres across, with a ceiling whose centre opens, built above the Funicolare Centrale (the Augusteo's history). From Follaky you leave via Vico Monteroduni 16: about 8 minutes, the same as for the Galleria Umberto I.
The Politeama is even closer: about 4 minutes on foot from the Via Chiaia entrance. After the curtain, dinner is in the neighbourhood: a few addresses on our restaurants page. If you leave on a Sunday, check-out, by 10:00, is from Vico Monteroduni 16.
Performances in Italian: what to know if you are coming from abroad
All the shows on this page are performed in Italian, and the two theatres' pages mention no surtitles; Neapolitan stories such as «Scugnizzi» or Gianfranco Gallo's comedy may also use the Neapolitan dialect. If you would rather spend an evening where language does not matter, Teatro di San Carlo has The Nutcracker, from 22 December to 5 January, and for the San Carlo season there is where to stay for Teatro di San Carlo.
A suite in Chiaia for your evening at the theatre
Follaky Secret Garden is a boutique B&B in Palazzo Giovagnoni, inside a private residential park in Chiaia; Monica and Fabio welcome you in person, with check-in between 15:00 and 20:00. The Suite Chiaia Deluxe Garden View is the more intimate, with a glass wall looking onto two neighbouring private gardens; the Suite Toledo Deluxe Private Patio is larger and brighter, with a private patio. If four of you are going to the theatre, Double Suites – Exclusive Use brings the two suites together for exclusive use. The Follaky Breakfast is included, with quality products.
For the rest of your days there are Naples in November and Naples in December. Once you have chosen your evening, at the Augusteo or the Politeama, check your nights and compare the suites.
