Chiaia is the quarter of the great fashion houses and the seafront, and for us who live here it is the quietest and most elegant part of Naples. It is the question you ask us most often before booking: “Is it safe at night? Can we walk back?”. We answer with what we see every day, with no scores and no rankings: how you get back in, what surrounds you, what you hear from the suite.
What kind of quarter Chiaia is, in the evening
Via dei Mille, Via Filangieri, Via Calabritto and Piazza dei Martiri are the streets of the fashion houses: Louis Vuitton at Via dei Mille 2, Prada at Via Filangieri 26, Montblanc and Michael Kors a few doors away. Around them, cafés, restaurants and nineteenth-century palazzi; at the end, the Villa Comunale and the seafront, where Naples goes for a walk as the sun goes down. After dinner the streets stay lively until late — anyone looking for absolute silence in the street will not find it in any central quarter — but it is a life of shop windows, café tables and strolls. Why we do not give you a score
Online you will find neighbourhood safety rankings with decimal scores. They are numbers nobody can verify, and we have none of our own: we tell you instead how it is with us — where the taxi stops, how the gate opens at midnight, what lies between the door of the suite and the street.
Coming back in the evening: the keys, the two entrances, the park
At check-in you receive the keys, and from then on you come and go on your own, at any hour. There are two entrances, 62 metres apart:
- Via Chiaia 149F, on foot. The first gate, on the street, usually stays open until late evening; the second opens onto a tunnel, at the end of which the park’s private lift (€0.20, a single 20-cent coin) takes you straight into the second courtyard. With the keys, the gates open even when they are closed.
- Vico Monteroduni 16, by taxi: the car drives into the first courtyard and unloads the luggage at ease; a short slope among the plants leads to the second courtyard, where Palazzo Giovagnoni stands.
The park is private and residential, lit and protected: there is no through-passage from the street, and access is reserved to those named in the booking. In the morning, Monday to Saturday, the building’s concierge is there. The suites look onto two private neighbouring gardens, and the trees keep the noise away: “Once you pass through the gate the chaos disappears and you find yourself in a park with towering trees and a silence you do not expect in Naples,” writes a guest on Tripadvisor (March 2026). An evening on foot from Follaky
The seafront is about 7 minutes away: Via Chiaia, Piazza dei Martiri, the Villa Comunale and you are by the sea, with Castel dell’Ovo 17 minutes from the door. The Teatro di San Carlo is 8 minutes from Vico Monteroduni, Piazza del Plebiscito 9: after the performance you walk back, without waiting for anyone.
