On Saturday 14 November, you can head up to Capodimonte in the early afternoon, spend a couple of hours with the collections and reach the Salone delle Feste (the museum's ballroom) shortly before 17:00. Outside, at that hour, the Real Bosco di Capodimonte (the royal park) closes; inside, the first performance begins.
Movimentale, a festival of dance and video art, brings two performances to the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in autumn 2026: BIVI by Igor x Moreno on 14 and 15 November, and HYBRIS by Antonello Tudisco/Interno 5 on 12 and 13 December. On each date there are two performances, at 17:00 and 18:00, in the Salone delle Feste. The programme is on the museum's page.
BIVI and HYBRIS: what's on stage
These are site-specific performances inspired by works in the Capodimonte collections. BIVI, by Igor Urzelai and Moreno Solinas, takes as its starting point Ercole al bivio by Annibale Carracci: four artists weave together dance, singing and live music, without depicting the painting itself, as the museum's presentation explains.
HYBRIS, by Antonello Tudisco with Interno 5, draws instead on La Caduta dei Giganti by Filippo Tagliolini, held at Capodimonte. The two performances on Sunday 13 December close the festival.
In 2026 Movimentale turns twenty: it was founded in 2006 in Sant'Agata dei Goti, and is promoted and co-funded by the Comune di Napoli (Naples City Council), conceived and directed by the association Interno 5 under the artistic direction of Antonello Tudisco. At Capodimonte it brings twelve works from the collections into dialogue with six choreographers.
Tickets and times in November and December
As of 16 September 2026, the museum has not yet published the access arrangements for the November and December performances. The free admission with booking listed on the festival page applies to the July dates: for autumn, keep an eye on updates.
The museum ticket is bought at the ticket office or through the Musei Italiani portal. According to the tickets page, it is valid for the whole day, includes the current exhibitions and allows you to leave and re-enter several times until closing. The museum is open every day except Wednesday.
The length of the performances is not stated by official sources. In November and December the museum stays open until 19:30, while the Real Bosco opens at 7:00 and closes at 17:00: if you would like to walk in the park, do so before the performance. 15 November and 13 December are Sundays: for those days, check the times on the official page.
How do you get to Capodimonte from Chiaia?
By taxi it takes about 20 minutes: it's 5 km from Vico Monteroduni 16, Follaky's vehicle entrance, which you should give to the driver. By bus the journey takes about 50 minutes; on foot, over an hour, and we would not recommend it.
The museum's how to get there page points to Metro Line 1 as far as the Museo stop and then the bus: routes 168, 178 and C67 stop at Porta Piccola, on Via Lucio Amelio, and the C63 at Porta Grande, on Via Capodimonte. According to ANM, the 168 and 178 also connect the museum to Piazza Dante, another Line 1 stop. From Follaky, the Toledo metro station, on the same line, is about 13 minutes on foot.
For the way back there are taxi ranks at Porta Piccola and Porta Grande; in November and December Porta Piccola stays open until 21:00, Porta Grande until 20:00. Our directions for Follaky's two entrances are in the getting here guide.
Three nights in Chiaia around the performance
Three nights leave two full days: one for Capodimonte, one for Chiaia and the surrounding area. Here's an outline for November:
- Friday 13 November: arrival and check-in between 15:00 and 20:00, in person with Monica or Fabio.
- Saturday 14: the collections in the early afternoon, then BIVI at 17:00 or 18:00 and dinner in Chiaia.
- Sunday 15: the seafront, about 7 minutes on foot, or Via Toledo, about 8.
- Monday 16: check-out by 10:00.
If you prefer the Sunday performance, simply swap the two days around. In December the same outline runs from Friday 11 to Monday 14, with HYBRIS on Saturday 12 or Sunday 13. If you are leaving on a Sunday, remember that Sunday check-out is from Vico Monteroduni 16.
With four nights your sightseeing has more room to breathe: three or four nights in Naples. For the rest of the trip, there's Naples in November and Naples in December.
Which suite to choose for Movimentale
The Suite Chiaia Deluxe Garden View is the more intimate of the two, in olive green, wood and maiolica tiles, with a window looking onto two neighbouring private gardens. The Suite Toledo Deluxe Private Patio is larger and brighter, in white and turquoise maiolica, with a private patio. Each sleeps two guests, with Follaky Breakfast included; as a group of four, you can book them together as Double Suites – Exclusive Use.
Once you've settled on the performance, all that's left is choosing where to return in the evening, after dinner in Chiaia: the more intimate suite, with its garden view, or the larger one, with its private patio. Check your dates around 14–15 November or 12–13 December.
