On Via Chiaia, in the morning, you stroll past the shop windows; near the Ponte di Chiaia is the entrance to the metro. You can head towards Piazza dei Martiri and the sea, or take Linea 6 as far as Municipio: you choose the direction there and then, with no car to go back for.
To visit Naples without a car, Chiaia is a convenient base: from Follaky Secret Garden, the Chiaia – Monte di Dio station on Linea 6 is about 4 minutes on foot, and the Teatro di San Carlo 8. For everything else, you combine walking, the metro and taxis.
Arriving without a car: Via Chiaia 149F and Vico Monteroduni 16
Follaky Secret Garden has two entrances, 62 metres apart. Via Chiaia 149F is the pedestrian entrance: a private lift belonging to the park, which works with a 20-cent coin, leads to the second courtyard. Vico Monteroduni 16 is the vehicle entrance, the address to give your taxi: the car drives into the first courtyard, where luggage is unloaded.
From Napoli Centrale, a taxi takes about 15–20 minutes; with the Linea 1 metro from Garibaldi, it takes about 35–45 minutes altogether. Check-in is in person with Monica or Fabio, between 15:00 and 20:00: let us know a half-hour window, ideally at booking and at the latest the day before; otherwise it is set between 15:00 and 16:00. Linea 6 from Chiaia: stops and times
Open since 17 July 2024, the Chiaia – Monte di Dio station is one of the Stazioni dell'Arte (Art Stations) and links two levels of the city: one entrance is on Via Chiaia, near the Ponte di Chiaia, the other on Piazza Santa Maria degli Angeli.
Linea 6 has eight stations and runs from Mostra d'Oltremare to Piazza Municipio in about 15 minutes. From Chiaia, Municipio is the next stop; in the other direction the line runs through San Pasquale, Arco Mirelli and Mergellina. At Municipio it connects with Linea 1, and ferries and hydrofoils depart from there.
According to the Comune di Napoli's announcement of 20 March 2026, from 23 March the first service runs at 7:10 every day; the last is at 21:10 Monday to Friday and 14:50 on Saturdays and Sundays. Times can change, and were reduced in August: before counting on the metro to get back, check them on the website of ANM, which runs the line.
One area per day
Chiaia and the seafront work well as a single day, entirely on foot: Piazza dei Martiri is about 3 minutes away, Via Caracciolo and the Villa Comunale 7, Piazza del Plebiscito 9, Castel dell'Ovo 17. To choose your stops, start from what to see in Naples.
The historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995 across 1,021 hectares, deserves a day of its own. Via San Gregorio Armeno is about 32 minutes on foot along Via Toledo, the Duomo 37. By metro, for San Gregorio Armeno, the time is much the same: about 25–30 minutes altogether, with Linea 1 from Toledo to Dante and then 11 minutes on foot. Capodimonte and Vomero: when you need transport
The Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte deserves a full day and needs a transfer: on foot it takes over an hour, by taxi from Vico Monteroduni 16 about 20 minutes, by public transport about 50. From Toledo or Piazza Municipio, the official directions are Linea 1 to Museo, or Linea 2 to Piazza Cavour, then an ANM bus to Porta Piccola or Porta Grande. The museum is open from 8:30 to 19:30, with last entry at 18:30, and is closed on Wednesdays; the Real Bosco opens every day at 7:00 and closes according to the season.
For Vomero, which on foot means a steep climb, there is the Funicolare Centrale: the Augusteo station is about 8 minutes on foot, and the ride arrives at Piazza Fuga.
Where to stay in Chiaia without a car: the two suites
