This November, the last leg of the journey to Naples does not pass through Capodichino. The route changes, not the destination: at the end there is the same evening in Chiaia, your bags set down in your suite, and Piazza dei Martiri about 3 minutes' walk away.

According to GESAC, which runs the airport, Naples airport will be closed in November 2026 for runway renovation work. It is a temporary, scheduled closure: ENAC's solution, shared by the parties, was to postpone the start of the work to November 2026 precisely to limit the number of days the airport is closed. GESAC's announcement does not give the exact days or the reopening date.

Naples runway closure: what changes for arriving travellers

If you already have a flight to Naples in November, ask your airline which airport it will leave from or land at, and on which days. If your trip is still to be planned, here are three routes, all with connections published by their operators: Salerno Costa d'Amalfi e del Cilento airport, Rome Fiumicino airport, or the train, with no flight at all, to Napoli Centrale.

From Salerno airport to Napoli Centrale

Between Salerno airport and the city runs Busitalia Campania's Salerno Airlink bus: it leaves from in front of the terminal, by the entrance, and arrives in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, right opposite Salerno station. Busitalia gives a journey of about 30 minutes, Trenitalia about 40. From there, a train takes you to Napoli Centrale.

  • Bus: a single ticket costs €8 and includes one bag up to 55×40×20 cm; each extra or larger bag costs €5. Tickets can also be bought on board from the driver, at no extra charge, with the option of electronic payment.
  • Train: from Salerno to Napoli Centrale, Italo gives a journey time of 36 minutes.
  • One ticket: on Trenitalia's channels you can buy train and bus together by choosing «Salerno Aeroporto Costa d'Amalfi» as your departure.

Bus times follow the flight schedule and may change: on 18 October 2026 the Salerno Airlink page showed those in force from 1 to 31 October. Check the November departures before choosing your flight. A direct shuttle from Salerno airport to Naples does not appear on the operators' pages we read on 18 October 2026.

From Rome Fiumicino to Naples by train

From Fiumicino airport, the Leonardo Express reaches Roma Termini non-stop in 32 minutes, every 15 minutes (every 30 at some times of day), with departures from the airport from 5:38 to 23:27. The ticket costs €14 and can also be paid at the turnstiles with a contactless card; suitcases, even large ones, carry no supplement. All of this is on Trenitalia's page.

From Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale, high-speed trains are frequent: Trenitalia lists over 100 Frecciarossa services a day, taking just over an hour, with departures from Rome from 7:00 to 22:35; Italo lists 31 trains a day and a 55-minute journey.

On its page of connections with Fiumicino, Trenitalia also lists direct Frecciarossa services between the airport and Naples, with no change of train: to see whether there is one on your day, search for the route from «Fiumicino Aeroporto» to «Napoli Centrale». If you are stopping in Rome for a few days first, there is the Rome–Naples trip in three or four nights.

Naples by train from Milan, Bologna and Florence

Without flying, the train takes you from Milan to Napoli Centrale in just over four hours. Trenitalia lists 70 Frecciarossa services a day between Milan and Naples, with departures from Milan from 5:10 to 19:00 and a timetable that changes at weekends and at some times of year. Italo lists 19 trains a day, taking 4 hours 8 minutes, also stopping, depending on the train, at Bologna Centrale, Firenze Santa Maria Novella and Rome.

On the line from the north, Italo also lists a stop at Napoli Afragola, which is a different station: for Chiaia, you get off at Napoli Centrale. For getting around the city afterwards without a car, there is Naples without a car.

From Napoli Centrale to Chiaia, with luggage

By taxi, Napoli Centrale to Follaky takes about 15–20 minutes, at the fixed fare of €18.50. Give the driver Vico Monteroduni 16, the vehicle entrance, the right one for luggage. By metro Line 1, from Garibaldi to Toledo and then 13 minutes on foot, it takes about 35–45 minutes in all. Via Chiaia 149F is the pedestrian entrance, with the park's private lift, which runs on a 20-cent coin; both entrances are described on the Getting here page.

Check-in is from 15:00 to 20:00, in person with Monica or Fabio: with a longer journey than usual, it is worth letting us know your arrival window when you book. If the train brings you to Chiaia after 20:00, late check-in is an extra service, on advance request and subject to availability (€20). Check-out is by 10:00; on Sundays you leave from Vico Monteroduni 16.

Why come to Naples in November

A slightly longer journey deserves a reason, and November has more than one. On Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November, at 19:00, Daniel Oren conducts Beethoven's Ninth at Teatro di San Carlo: from Follaky it is about an 8-minute walk. From 6 November, the Gallerie d'Italia at Via Toledo 177, about 10 minutes' walk away, bring Angelica Kauffmann and Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun into dialogue for the first time in the exhibition «Angelica e Élisabeth. L'età delle donne pittrici», open until 7 March 2027; a full-price ticket costs €8. The rest of the month is in Naples in November.

A suite in Chiaia at the end of the journey

Follaky Secret Garden is a boutique B&B in Palazzo Giovagnoni, inside a private residential park in Chiaia; Monica and Fabio welcome you in person. Each suite has its own independent, private entrance; beyond the security door is a corridor shared by the two suites. The Suite Chiaia Deluxe Garden View is the more intimate, with a glass wall looking onto two neighbouring private gardens; the Suite Toledo Deluxe Private Patio is larger and brighter, with a private patio. For four guests, Double Suites – Exclusive Use brings the two suites together for exclusive use. Follaky Breakfast is included, with quality products.

Once you have chosen the airport, or the train, all that is left is the suite: enter your November dates and compare the two suites.
